Lockdown Biohack #15 - Ecotherapy

It’s proven year after year that the amount of time people spend indoors increases if they live in wealthy countries and that’s a disadvantage for them.

Whether it’s a commitment to work, a desire to stay warm indoors, laziness, or maybe you just can’t be bothered, not being connecting to nature is killing us. We are genetically programmed to look for trees, water, plants, and animals/insects/reptiles to distract us from pain and discomfort. Start looking for them around you.

It’s time to get a prescription for Ecotherapy or Green Therapy or include Park Time in your daily lockdown situation. Exposing yourself to nature to soothe and improve your mood. It’s common sense and the most natural biohack. You don’t have to do anything, just be outside. In Japan, they discovered Forest Bathing or Shin Rin Yoku. It’s good for both physical and mental wellbeing. They studied it back in the 1960s and found It is proven to reduce stress hormone production, improve feelings of happiness and free up creativity, as well as lower heart rate and blood pressure, boost the immune system and accelerate recovery from illness. That’s a lot of benefits that you can receive by going outside for 10 minutes.

So hack your mental and physical wellness by going for a walk to a park, or anyplace there are trees. It’s free and simple. Go ahead and do it every day.

Soul to sole.
