3. My Camino The Movie
1. Sue
Kenney's My Camino
Suddenly
downsized out of the corporate telecom industry, Sue Kenney, a business
woman, mother of three teenage daughters and a world class masters
rower decided to embark on a journey walking 780 kilometers across
the north of Spain on a quest to discover her life purpose.
When she
returned Sue began telling stories about her journey and people wanted
to hear more. Sue recorded a storytelling CD called Stone by
Stone and has sold over 2500 copies as an independent artist.
People who listened to the CD contacted Sue to ask when she would
be writing a book. One year later she began work on a manuscript for
a book. Within a period of 8 months the book was released by White
Knight Publications ISBN 09734186-3-X with national distribution in
Chapters/Indigo and independent book stores in Canada and the USA.
Sue Kenney's My Camino was published in July 2004 and tells
the true story of a woman confronting her deepest fear. With over
3000 books sold, it is well on its way to becoming
a national best seller within the first year of publication.

Sue's Next Book
The Journey of the Eagle Feather
Sue has recently spent two months at an artist's retreat on Toronto's
Ward's Island writing the first draft of her second book, a continuation
of her further life pilgrimages, on and off the Camino: The
Journey of the Eagle Feather
Prior to
her leaving on a second pilgrimage, this time on the Portuguese Camino,
a native friend of Sue's had a visionary dream. In the dream Sue was
to take an Eagle Feather, (one of the greatest honors of First Nations
traditions) to give to someone on the path. Although Sue was given
a list of strict instructions and procedures to follow, whomever was
to receive the spiritual talisman of the feather was going to be entirely
up to her. This is another incredible journey of inspiration.

3. My
Camino The Movie
While editing
her first book prior to publication, Sue worked closely with Writer-Producer-Director,
Bruce Pirrie. Bruce's background is as a performer and director with
Second City, as well as a varied experience in writing television
and feature screenplays. Because of his unique qualifications and
approach to the editing process, Bruce exposed Sue to a new visual
and audio interpretation of her stories and a vision for My Camino
began to emerge. Sue realized that her story would make a great dramatic,
feature-length, theatrical motion picture; Canadian in character but
International in scope, casting, and appeal.
Thrilled
with their successful working relationship on the book, Sue and Bruce
immediately hatched plans to create a movie version of her story.
Working together, an Outline and Treatment of the screenplay for My
Camino was written.
Around
the same time, Sue met with a Toronto production company who had indicated
interest in producing a cinematic screenplay. They had read the book
and loved the story but they warned that film projects could take
four years to complete because of delays that would begin right away
due to Government funding application deadlines that could take two
years to come to fruition.
Despite
the Producer's enthusiasm for Bruce and Sue to write the screenplay,
Sue's biggest concern was the interpretation of the story. She felt
an obligation to honor the Camino with respect and to protect her
story and name.
Sue decided
to decline the offer and take the screenplay through the development
phases herself without the involvement of a production company beholden
to the vagaries of Government funding.
In the
meantime, the written Outline, Treatment and sample scenes provide
an enticing taste to present to prospective visionary, resourceful,
and highly motivated private sector producers.
Discussions
are also imminent with a recently Oscar-nominated actress who is in
the market for an excellent female lead role.
Sue can
foresee the premiere being held at the International Toronto Film
Festival in 2006. A tight timeline but definitely doable.
A vision
is born.
